We’ve been busy (and having fun) behind the scenes cooking up some fantastic recipes with our good friend Pete! You’ll be seeing plenty of him and his culinary creations moving forward. Pete is a jack-of-all-trades that we have called upon for a wide range of random favors in return for meat. From expert cooking endeavors to his endless store of fun facts, to plumbing issues, Pete has been the guy we call first.

Pete has been passionate about food for many years, and with his creative bent, he has just as many years under his belt of experimenting with a wide variety of different methods and styles. He knows just about everything there is to know about spices, heat, and importantly for us, meat. Last but not least, Pete is also an expert in hospitality and making everyone feel welcome at his table.

We are very excited to be bringing Pete even more into the mainstream of what we do at the farm. Pete will be working with us to develop some delicious new ways to feed your family, no matter what time of the year. In the future, you can look forward to a segment of our newsletter titled, “Eat at Pete’s”, so named after a quilted sign made by his wife that hangs in his home. We will be focusing on meals with easy preparation, as well as scalability so that no matter now small, or how large a group you have to feed, there will be an abundance of food.

Pete has always loved cooking for large groups, especially the Boy Scouts, and he’s extremely skilled at grilling meats, so add that to your list of things to look forward to this spring! We are so glad to have such a kind and talented soul that we get to call friend.

Thanks for everything Pete!

How we raise pastured turkeys for Thanksgiving

Midsummer, our farm welcomes hundreds of day old turkey chicks. From there, we raise them in the brooder until they are old enough to graze the rest of their lives on pasture. If you've never gotten the chance to come out to the farm to see them on pasture yourself, watch our 5 minute video here. It really is an impressive sight to see!
