This is David and Mariah Boatright, and their two boys.
We first met David and Mariah a few years ago in Albany, NY, when they received the same Herd Fellow Scholarship award that Elli did at the Grass-fed Exchange conference. Since then, David and Mariah have scaled up their regenerative farm in Sedalia, Missouri to become star producers and excellent stewards of the land.
Like us, as they've grown, they've found what works best on their farm and what doesn't. For us, we learned that our rich pastures were much better for finishing cattle than for calving them. For the Boatrights, they realized the longer growing seasons and drier summers in Missouri made their farm an excellent place to raise pastured chickens.
Because of this, in addition to common values and a shared mission to regenerate top soil and produce nutrient dense foods, we've decided to partner with the Boatrights to bring you our updated collection of exceptional pasture raised chicken.
In the video below, you'll get a clear sense for David's passion and commitment to raising exceptional quality food.
As you can see, the Boatrights do an incredible job of raising these special animals, which is why we're so excited to share this new partnership with you!
With this new collaboration, we can increase our impact and long term capacity to meet growing demand for all of our pasture raised products.
It's a win-win for all: the land, the animals, you, them, and us. :)
A: Yes, the chickens are raised on perennial pastures, just like they were on our farm. They are raised in an open greenhouse style structure that is moved by a tractor every day. With no floor or walls, the chickens are free to range and forage wherever they choose. Livestock guardian dogs keep the chickens safe from predators.
A: The chickens enjoy diverse pasture forage and insects, just as they did on our farm. Like our chickens, they, too, are supplemented with a non-GMO grain mix.
A: The Boatrights' land lends itself especially well to raising poultry and the southern latitude allows them to have a nearly year-round grazing season. They really raise chickens well, not mention, they also own and operate their own USDA inspected poultry processing facility on their farm so the animals experience the least amount of stress as possible.
